Found: New Zealand, 1944
NZ species just one of over 40 species within the genus found throughout Asia, Australia and Indian subcontinent. Very adaptable with widespread distribution. Inhabits native and exotic forest, scrubland, orchards, farms and treed parks and gardens. Not big fans of extreme cold which can cause temporary decline in local populations. Both sexes incubate eggs. Males will continue to rear fledglings while the female begins a new nest.
