Forest-dwelling owl. Morepork eat a variety of animals, including large insects, small birds (especially silvereyes), and small mammals. Serrated edges to flight feathers reduce air turbulence over the wing, allowing silent flight during nocturnal hunting. Birds that seem to be calling to each other are usually rival males.
