Migratory species that only breed in NZ. It is a brood parasite – lays its eggs in whitehead, brown creeper and yellowhead nests for them to rear. Migrates to South Pacific during winter. They are aggressive predators eating lizards, eggs, large insects and small chicks. Adults migrate in Feb/March while fledglings in April/May.
